Tina Nixon, Ed.D/ET
Doctorate of Educational Leadership/Educational Technology

E-mail: drtinanixon@gmail.com

Research Interests: I have broad interest in educational leadership and technology, particularly in the areas of administration, professional learning, and effective integration of technology into K-12, curriculum and higher education. I am also interested in education courses that involve all aspects of teacher education.

Current Research: My current research is focused on the integration of technology into curriculum. Addressing areas such as Texas Education Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and SAMR model by Dr. Ruben Puentedura.

Past Research:

My most recent past research involves the challenges and rewards of teaching online classes as an adjunct professor. I worked with my mentor to outline methods that will assist future, first year adjunct professors to effectively: (a) manage their online classroom; (b) navigate learning management systems (LMS); (c) communicate with students to increase learning and retention; (d) mentor students; and (e) improve their overall online presence.

Additional past research involved ePortfolios for undergraduate

students in teacher education programs. I was responsible for researching portfolio programs, benefits, and implementation methods for students who seek employment in education. I have also researched medical facilities in Nigeria for the UBRICA Research Institute. The research involved providing information on dialysis centers for kidney research. My work was included in a proposal to build a hospital in Nigeria for families who need medical services.

Future Research: Bilingual Curriculum and Instruction, Asynchronous and synchronous professional learning (ie. Universal Design for Learning), Technology Integration (i.e.: mobile technology, Google apps, etc.), Teacher Education Programs, Special Education, Elementary and Higher Education, & Research Methods
